THE HENLEY WHALERS - Boxing Day - 2013 |
Our Traditional Boxing Day row - 26th December 2013 - Or "How good intentions prevailed over adversity" Rainfall, river-flow and raised water-levels conspired against us, and our annual Boxing-day blowout was almost scuppered. Ah, but you can't keep a good man (or woman) down, so undaunted Whalers rallied to the bandstand at Mill Meadows to sustain tradition. Whalers, houseguests, family and friends made merry with multitudes of mince pies, stollen (not stolen), and Polish paluszki washed down with Champagne, sloe gin and schnapps. Just one trusty friend was missing - Molly! |
The following pictures were taken at about 15:00 the same day. The level at Marsh lock was then 3.6 metres. The top of the concrete campshedding (edge of the river-bank) at Molly's mooring is at water level when the gauge at Marsh Lock reads 3.17 metres. |
