Monday 7th Sept - Arrival. Registration. Launch. Dinner at Mount Batten Centre.

Mount Batten pontoon from the bar

Tuesday 8th.
Morning - Race to Lynher Buoy, then up the River Lynher, almost to St Germans. Sunny with mainly beam and following winds all the way. A few boats "took the mud" attempting to approach St Germans.
Lunch - At anchor at Dandy Hole.
Afternoon - Was there a race back to Mount Batten? Plenty of tacking practice.
Evening - Ferry to Jolly Jacks at Mayflower Marina for Enormous Fish Supper (yes, the fish were enormous).

Pontoon Siesta. Newton Ferrers
Wednesday 9th.
Morning- To Newton Ferrers (Yealm). Quite windy and lumpy. Some boats turned back. A rib attending some divers did its best to put Molly onto Shag Rock by pushing her to port till stalled. Crew reacted brilliantly while a skillful gybe was performed despite the significant swell. Prudence followed, but how long did it take to put in that second reef?
Lunch - On Pontoon in sheltered sunshine in the Yealm.
Afternoon - Race back to Mount Batten. The trysail (known as "Julia") was laced up in place of the main, and provided very adequate power all the way home. Crew appreciated the lower C/G and centre of thrust. Some didn't notice the following seas rolling perilously close to the stern!
Back at Mount Batten, Raid boats spaced out along the pontoon left little room for mooring.
Evening - Walk to dinner at Clovelly Bay pub

Concentration! - Returning from the Yealm.

The end of another first class English Raid. "The best ever" some say.

New friendships made. Old ones re-kindled. Great sailing. Great craic.
