THE HENLEY WHALERS - La Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan, France - 2017 |
Sunday 21st - Sun 28th May 2017 Brilliant tidal sailing mainly in enclosed bay with islands and creeks. |
|
Monday - Morning - En-route between St Malo and "The Golfe", Whalers again parked at the castle in Hédé-Bazouges for a coffee break in the village. Accommodation at Port Blanc was further into the site than previously, but close to the swimming pool!- (OS-type map. .Bing Map. Campsite web-page) Afternoon - Launched at Lamor Baden, but too late (as ever) for the Opening Parade. Enjoyed a shake-down sail, before finding the allocated buoy. Picture, right. |

Wednesday - From Lamor Baden - A day of nautical exploration - A picnic lunch at anchor alongside Isle Longue - A "treasure hunt" (clues in French) visiting several beaches to find the answers or to complete competitions. At Le Goret we had to create a picture from natural marine items. Inspiration came from the morning's encounter with the Harbour Police! |
Approaching Port Navalo |
||
Thursday - Long bus ride (courtesy of the organisers) - Port Navalo. Prize giving and briefing - Amazed to hear we'd won a prize for the "Gendarme Maritime"! The sea state was inappropriate for many fleet 3B boats to sail around to Plage du Fogeo, so we all waited at Port Navalo for the tide which would take us to Le Bono. To Le Bono via the Oyster boats at Fort Espagnol Crac'h - Music, dancing, free wine, and oysters (if you like 'em). Dinner at Le Bono - (Buses to Campsite) - Molly's track and stats for the day, below. |
